If a child is not filled at least once by the life-giving stream of music during the most susceptible period, between his sixth and sixteenth years, it will hardly be of any use to him later on. Often a single experience will open the young soul to music for a whole lifetime.

Founded in 1952, the San Jose Youth Symphony has a rich tradition of artistic excellence, educational initiatives, international tours, and innovative programming. Under the direction of Conductor and Music Director Yair Samet, the San Jose Youth Symphony presents a three concert subscription series, annual holiday concerts and special events. In 2004, the San Jose Youth Symphony launched Music Matters, a groundbreaking project aimed at providing youth in the surrounding communities with weekly classroom music lessons, theory and history training including hands-on activities. The San Jose Youth Symphony is a not for profit corporation supported, in part, through the fund-raising efforts of the Friends of the San Jose Youth Symphony.
