The Concert Winds Ensemble is designed to develop the overall ability of young woodwind and brass musicians. Students in this ensemble will perform band works at grade levels 2-4 which is standard for most middle school ensembles. The Concert Winds Ensemble is also designed for the more proficient high school/middle school musician desiring to learn a new instrument to enhance the ensemble instrumentation and balance in their current school program.
The Saxophone Ensemble comprises saxophone players in the Concert Winds Ensemble, who spend a portion of the rehearsal time playing in their own group, focusing on a wide range of more challenging repertoire, including classical chamber and band music, and jazz./
Charles Ancheta, conducts both Ensembles, and is a long-time SJYS affiliate, as well as Music Director at local middle and high schools, including Prospect High School, and now currently at Sunnyvale Middle School.
